This is the umpteenth time of practicing the Quest Fest in the loop pedal.
This recording has the lyrical layers, too.
But less layers overall (more minimal).

This is a file off the loop petal that I’ve been practicing with. (aka song quality low and yes it peaks but you can still feel the idea).
This chronicles the 5th time I ran through building this song just out of voice from some “doo doos”. Each time it sounds a little different. Every time. Though one enviably recognizes the skeleton framework.
On Saturday for nbb.6, I will build this underbelly again. Then add the lyrical song layer over this acepella backup.
Anyways, the name of this number is “Quest Fest.”
This is the first recording of Flutter & Bounce. A solo recording in garage band done in an hour in the spur of a moment where Deena is doing all the voices. Because there was no guy around, Deena used pitch shift to create the “guy” part.
Nanobangbang performed this in a barbershop quartet fashion with drums at NBB.3 @ The Opera House Closing Party. Allison & Deena doing the female harmonies and Dakota & Kevin both doing the guy part, Winston on drums.
Here is us warming up amidst chaos.
For the Nanobangbang debut, Deena did a solo performance of this song.
This is a practice demo of just the vocals made in garage band.
It is a acepella cover of Phil Spector’s “To Know Him Is To Love Him” which was recorded by The Teddy Bears and then The Beatles.
She performed the vocals atop a recording of a friend reading a letter she wrote to her boyfriend at the time. The underlying feeling was one of neglect. The things her friend expressed in this letter could be summed up in a very simple manner in this song. “I am interested in the way pop music can simplify emotions in a way anyone can relate to.” -DOH
Why can’t he see me? How blind can he be?
Pulling hair mid-song @ The Parlor
Rainbang was the very first official Nanobangbang jam. Before this, it was just Deena singing by herself in stairwells, construction sites, and abandoned houses.
This was the first collaboration. With Eric Shaefer. It was long distance. Eric was living in San Francisco and Deena in Austin. They collaborated through sending each other sounds they were recording through the internet.
Here is an excerpt of RAINBANG … and you will hear real rain in the background. All the beats were composed of organic sounds.
